Singer IU, who is in 1st place for popularity on this year's year-end concerts, has prospects of holding a solo concert for herself around next year.
IU guest performed on many concerts of popular male singers, such as Lee Seung Gi, Sung Sikyung, Sweet Sorrow, etc., and was highly popular. (IU also guest performed at K.Will's concert and even gave him a flower wreath, which read, "naneunyo oppaga joheun geol" - lyrics from 'Good Day'.) In particular, the guys who followed their girlfriends to the male concerts gave wild responses. It was said that that was the only time shouts from the male audience could be heard.
Receiving so much popularity for guest performances, there has been concern about the behind story as to why she hasn't planned her own solo concert. Having debuted for 3 years and with many hit songs, and even 'uncle fans' with financial power, those are enough to satisfy the conditions to hold a concert. SNSD and 2NE1 who debuted at about the same time have held concerts that sold out day after day, further proving their popularity.
However, IU plans to hold her own concert a bit later. A spokesperson from her agency told OSEN on Dec 27th, "In order for IU to present a concert closer to perfection, our position is that it's not the time yet" and "Following her album promotions, she has a tight schedule as she'll be debuting in Japan next year. If she were to hold her solo concert, we expect it'll be around next year then, won't it?"
